Rudolph's funny, dead-on take on married dentists in crisis. Mild-mannered David (Scott) suspects his wife and fellow dentist Dana (Davis) may be having an affair with a member of her community opera troupe when his imagination begins to go wild. His acerbic, misogynist patient (Leary in a no-brainer bit of casting) plays devil's advocate as David begins to see him everywhere, imparting advice on how to handle the situation. As the marriage continues to decay, David's hilarious waking dreams continue unabated and he is forced to deal with the darker side of his milquetoast persona. Refreshingly realistic, original, and well-acted. Based on the novel "The Age of Grief" by Jane Smiley.
