28 Days Later

Jim (Murphy) wakes up in a London hospital after an accident and finds the building deserted. London seems deserted as well--until he nearly becomes a victim of blood-drinking zombies. Rescued by Selena (Harris) and Mark (Huntley), Jim learns that animal rights activists released lab chimps who carried a blood-transmitted plague that decimated the population within 28 days. The few uninfected survivors have banded together and decide to head to Manchester, where a military installation is said to be a safe haven. Ick and gore galore.
