House of 1000 Corpses
Disjointed and thoroughly confusing homage to horror films akin to "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre." Director Zombie has an honest affection for the films he references and recreates. Unfortunately, his movie is a hodge-podge of stories with no clear direction. It's stylish enough to be a popular cult film, but it lacks tangible scares or real drama. None of the episodes really fit together in this failure paved by good intentions. Hype may lead you to think this will be a gorefest. It isn't.
