Covers the period from the night of President Lyndon B. Johnson's (Gambon) inauguration in 1965 to his 1968 decision not to seek re-election because of the escalating war in Vietnam. While the British Gambon has Johnson's mannerisms down, he can't manage the Texas drawl, which is a real handicap. Baldwin plays Defense Secretary Robert McNamara and Sutherland is Johnson adviser Clark Clifford.
