Invincible

Herzog's stylized and operatic exploration of a true story is his first dramatic feature in 10 years. In 1932, naive Polish blacksmith Zishe (Ahola) is hired as a strongman to perform at the Palace of the Occult in Berlin, which is owned by showman Hanussen (Roth), who outfits Zishe to resemble German hero Siegfried. Hanussen wishes to be a significant player in the emerging Nazi party but when Zishe reveals himself to be Jewish, he takes it in stride and revels in Zishe's money-making abilities as a "new Samson." But politics and entertainment prove to be a volatile mix.
