The Travelling Players

Slow-going for those unfamiliar with Greek myths and modern Greek history as the country is continually oppressed and betrayed. A travelling company of provicial actors ply their trade over some 16 years (1936-1952) while their country experiences the upheavals of a fascist dictatorship, WWII, occupation, civil war, and repression by the right-wing regime. The focus is on ordinary people in ordinary surroundings (with Angelopoulous leaning towards the communist sensibility). Greek with subtitles.
