This satire of home shopping networks is supposed to shell American consumerism, but ends up shooting itself in the foot instead. Murphy is G, a New Age-babble spouting wise man who is used by home shopping execs Goldblum and Preston to boost flagging sales. G lectures about the joy of spiritual over material happiness, but sales soar anyway. Misuses Murphy's wisecracking ability in what could have been a good premise, and reduces his character to a sight gag.
