Widower president Andrew Shepherd (Douglas) decides it's time to get back into the dating game. But just what woman wants to find her romance in the public eye? Well, it turns out to be feisty environmental lobbyist Sydney Wade (the ever-charming Bening). But the Prez also has to put up with nasty opponent Bob Rumson (Dreyfuss), who's using their courtship as political fodder, approval ratings, and a nosy press. Glossy fairytale material expertly handled by both cast and director.
I guess I'm too sensitive for a movie about liberals in office. This movie really angered me and I walked out of the theatre muttering to myself. A liberal couple overheard me and commented to me. If you are highly conservative and don't like a movie that makes conservatives look rotten, don't watch this movie.
