Excellent TV adaptation of the Emlyn Willimas play has Hepburn as dedicated teacher Lilly Moffat, determined to bring education to a small Welsh mining village. She finds and mentors a student she believes can escape the mines with the power of his intellect. Cukor overcomes the limitations of television in his last collaboration with Hepburn.
