Social Issues

Films featuring storylines ripped from headlines, debate clubs, or the talking points of a political campaign. Often called "issue movies," these stories construct character narratives around big "I" important issues of the day, which can end up either intelligently illuminating or painfully preachy. Normally raise more questions than they answer, but they're normally good for at least a few Oscar nominations.
