Film Noir (films)

Tales of hard-drinking, straight-talking, loner PIs, femme fatales, seedy locales, betrayal, double crosses, paranoia, shocking revelations, stinging dialogue, and lurking doom. Typically done in gloomy, shadowy black and white, though more modern noirs often feature the ironically sun-bleached streets of Los Angeles. These are the films that really define the film noir genre.
