Michael Caine was filming this when his name was called at the 1987 Oscar telecast. No, really! He couldn't be there to accept his win for "Hannah and Her Sisters," because he was busy making this turkey. It is really bad! Film buffs will love spotting all the obvious goofs and plot holes, though.
Decent Sequel

An acceptable storyline is made suspenseful by not relying too heavily on the shark for its appeal. Roy Scheider is also a welcome return. Solid, though pales in comparison to the Spielberg classic.

Thank god the mechanical shark worked so poorly. This is an early example of what an action/adventure/suspense film should be. Plus its one of my Dad's faves so it holds sentimental value for me.
Underrated gem

OK, not all of the scenes work, but you have to give it to Spielberg. He really, really wants this movie to be funny. Like REALLY. The movie is literally dripping with ambition, so you have to give it credit for that.
