Pirates are returning. This great movie lied in the hands of Gore Verbinski and he didn't mess it up. A film full of adventure, treachery, piracy, amazing battles and victory.
He will make star in amazement and laugh. You wonder if some of his lines were meant to be said the way he says them and think about how weird he makes captain jack. He alone is a good reason to watch it.
Jane Austin is modern

This was one of my favorite movies at one time but I found out that the reason I liked it so much was because I was going through a hard time and I felt like I knew how Elizabeth in the movie felt. It spoke to me! Haha. Yes Jane Austin can right the realistic and this movie does her book justice.
I encourage you to watch more of "her" films. There extremely good.
There is only two reasons to watch this film... 1) if you are so utterly bored, and 2) if you are a fan of Orlando Bloom or Johnny Depp. The movie never should of been made. The worst part is the end, it sets itself up so that some moron could very well continue the Pirates saga if they had enough cash to throw around.
If you have never seen the previous Pirates film this movie would seem disjointed at best. Its clearly set up as filler for the 1st and last movies. It is far better than the 3rd movie in the series, however not as good as the first. Main reasons to see the film are if you are like me, a fan of Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom. They both really carried the film and are imho, the best actors of all 3 films in this trilogy.
Perfect Cinema

Beautifully shot and told tale - at once painful to watch and compelling. Very self conscious about the film's interaction with the audience - whether it is the simple use of the typewriter to re-enforce the fact that the written word is the key plot mover in this story to the (over)gorgeous cinematography to represent the Hieronymus Bosch hellhole of Dunkirk. Subtext of war and class, of future and present adds tension and poignancy as movie wears on. The middle section of the movies seems as it were over edited - and ironically by trying to shorten the movie, it causes the story to lose a level of tautness as we struggle to put the pieces together. But highly recommended - but more for a though provoking evening - not a first date.
James McAvoy rocks!

James McAvoy gives an excellent performance. He is truly one of the best actors around! Kiera Knightly is tolerable. The green dress she wears in the library scene stands out more than she does throughout the entire movie!
