Great Movie!!!
Reviewed by Alan-Gekko for Bobby at 2011-07-11 22:26:53
Written and directed by Emilio Estevez, "Bobby" is impressive in many aspects. The first one is the excellent screenplay, showing the lives of more than twenty characters in an objective way in less than two hours, recalling the style of Robert Altman inclusive the camera work. The story is directed and related to the North America history and culture, but is very well developed in a perfect language. The stars are certainly the second point that calls attention. There are very few movies with the participation of such number of great actors and actresses, and most of them in lead roles, split very fairly. The music score, with classics from the 60's, is the third point that deserves to be highlighted.Although I do fear that this movie may not hit home for some people, it is definitely going to leave a lasting impression on the majority who see it. It's a movie that presents a magnificent cast, superb directing, and flawless scriptwriting.

Whenever I've had a bad day at work, I relaxe by watching the Wolfman tear out people's throats and impaling them with his claws. A good, fun film with amazing make-up by Rick Baker.

Hopkins and Exorcism
Reviewed by criddic2 for The Rite at 2011-02-01 20:00:41
This is a B-movie with a star performance by Anthony Hopkins. It is in the vein, stylistically, as "The Exorcist" and "The Omen." It has its theme in common with the former and it approaches the atmosphere of the latter, though it does match either in quality. However, it eschews gore in favor of character and is more effective because of it. Anthony Hopkins is emmensely entertaining.

death takes a holiday

Definitely long, but graceful - not focused on Brad's physical appearance, but his character's true display of curiosity. Monty Markham (Death Takes a Holiday) did this movie way back, although not the 1st release, & was passionate then. Can watch Meet Joe Black over & over again (& have). Claire Folani is the captivating role in this film & as far as I can recall Anthony Hopkins hasn?t bombed a role yet. Brad is on the cover but, again he?s really not the focus of the film ? his character only examines the purposes of human life. Watch it again very closely & see if you have a different perspective.

Could've been better.
Reviewed by NWRdr4 for Bram Stoker's Dracula at 2010-01-31 16:03:52
Gary Oldman is the best Dracula I've ever seen. Period. He steals every scene he's in, to be honest. Anthony Hopkins provides an amazing performance too, as the seemingly off-kilter Prof. Van Helsing. It's also a very visually-impressive movie. The film's main problems, however, lies in its uneven 'experimental' special effects (experimental in the sense that the film-makers went back to using old fx techniques), which are sometimes amazing, and other times cheesy; and Keanu Reeve's terribly fake British accent, which he puts to 'good' use by reciting some wooden lines every now and then. The script was okay, I thought; it could've used some touching-up here and there, but was overall decent. So do I recommend seeing it? Absolutely. Just because it's not the best film out there doesn't mean it's not exciting and entertaining. If nothing else, you at least have an excuse to sit inside on a rainy day and curl-up with a nice horror movie.

More about the times than the man
Reviewed by KHL for Bobby at 2008-03-10 16:18:13
I didn't know what to expect from this star-studded picture, but if you're looking for a biopic of RFK, this is not it. But the intertwined stories of various characters on the fateful day work nicely to provide a compelling background story that is emotionally moving. The use of historical footage is well done and doesn't detract or stand out too unusually. I couldn't keep dry eyes at the end and of note in the extras is a panel interview with various people who were at the hotel at that time.
