More Fun Than It Should Be
Reviewed by criddic2 for Transformers at 2011-04-22 01:41:25
I was surprised to find this to be so easy to like. Sure, it's not a "high-concept" action movie, but it provides a good time. The characters are likable enough to spend 2 hours with, and Shia LeBeouf works well in his CGI surroundings. This is a better-than-average Michael Bay movie. (I give it 2 paws, since I can't give it 2 1/2, and three seems borderline.)

The African/black race backdrop was the most interesting and I wish Mann delved into it more deeply.

Not good by any standard, but watchable.

The entire movie revolves around giant CGI robots fighting each other--nothing else. And for providing these fun, entertaining robot fights, I give it some credit. The movie doesn't deserve anything more, however, for the mediocrity that surrounds the lame acting and idiotic script (which, for the most part, lacks characterization and intelligent dialogue). So if you're looking for a dumb, loud popcorn movie, look no further than Transformers. If you're in the mood for something a little classier, skip it. That's all there is to it.

Brilliantly detailed out.

Brilliant!! I have seen this movie atleast 20 times and each time there is something new that i am awed about. The concept and the transformations are just out of this world. Amazing level of detail taken care of.

Top 10 in Most Quotable Movies Ever Made
Reviewed by KHL for Zoolander at 2009-01-06 14:54:55
However, I've seen this movie about 2o times...but still! Some will love it, some will hate it. This movie was lost in the 9-11 tragedy, having been released very shortly afterwards, and thus received very little press at the time. It's basically an extenuation of the short, and hilariously funny, bits that Ben Stiller did for the VH1 Fashion Awards in the late 90s...Derek Zoolander, male model, dimwit, and ultimate world-saver. Great "supporting" cast of Owen Wilson, Will Farrell, Christine Taylor (Stiller's real-life wife), and a surprising little cameo by the fashion man himself, David Bowie ("it's a walk-off!") I would list the quotes, but unless you've seen the flick, they would sound utterly stupid, and you can see them by going online anywhere else. Only just..."Listen to your friend Billy Zane, he's a cool dude"...

Seriously Hysterical
Reviewed by KHL for Tropic Thunder at 2008-08-25 12:48:23
You can't ask for much better than Stiller, Black and Downey Jr. in this offbeat and seriously funny comedy (note it finally kicked the Dark Knight out of the #1 spot). Tom Cruise's cameo as slimy movie exec Les Grossman is priceless. Downey Jr. manages to steal the show in a tour-de-force role (acutally, 3 roles perhaps?) as bad-boy Aussie ultra-Method actor (Russel Crowe, anyone?), who goes ultra-character in his African American role, then outwits some bad guys by playing a Japanese samurai type for a too-brief yet funny scene. Stiller and Black are great as usual, as are the rest of the supporting cast. Great opening "commercials" and "trailers" open the film, and tie directly in to the central characters. Funny parody of Hollywood with awesome actors and some great cameos. I can't wait to own this one so I can watch it again! (the gag reel should be good..)

Not that bad.

I found this a good action/adventure movie to watch with younger children who are not quite ready for Indiana Jones. Also sparked interest in national monuments as exciting and not just for school.

All-star cast, great cameos and a few genuinely side-splitting scenes. I loved it.
