One of the Greats

Not much to say about this film, except that it's truly one of the greatest...and if you don't shed a little tear when the phone rings and the little dachshund wimpers for his lost owner, you have no heart! I thought I was alone in this until I saw it at the Redford Theatre, and the crowd was weepy. A great film with great stars...

A Pairing of Greats!

Barrymore's best role in the talkies (before the declining years) as outrageous, ultra-theatrical manager Oscar Jaffe, and Carole Lombard as plain jane turned diva tempestuous star Lily Garland create fireworks together and Howard Hawks' usually snappy dialog abounds. Delightful, funny and fresh screwball comedy, still holds up after all this time and proves why both actors were considered among the greatest of their generation.
