"Up" deserves to be way "up" there!

I'm not always the biggest fan of animated films, but I absolutely could not believe how great this movie was! It's sad, it's happy, it's mostly funny and it's the BEST animated film I've ever seen! I think it's brilliantly done! Two old men, one child, a bunch of dogs (with one special dog), are most of the story. But the beginning with the (not yet old) old man and his girlfriend/wife set this up beautifully. It's actually a very powerful story - unheard of in animation, as far as I'm concerned. The only part I thought was inappropriate was three dogs flying three planes - without that, the movie's almost believeable!! Whatever you do, make sure you see this movie!! Enjoy!!

Last year's pixar film WALL- E wasn't all that special they're some ok parts in the movie ,but most of the film was a B- or a C+. I just saw UP 3 days ago ( Tuesday, June 2nd) and it was excellentand it was the best Pixar film I have seen since Finding Nemo.About the first 20 minutes of the was sad. The movie needs more green skinned women...

I need to state a few things up front: One: I hate time travel movies. Without exception they all have huge plot holes and problems. Since it was pretty open from the beginning this was going to be one I had reservations. Two: I hate summer action films because most are the same dumbed down crap year after year, and this was obviously going to be a summer action movie despite being a Trek film. Three: It's a Star Trek film. No matter how much you love the series you have to admit that the record of the movies based on it ain't exactly stellar. That being said it was pretty darn good despite a few flaws. If you have an engineering or physics background DO NOT see this film (of course you probably get told that about every scifi/action movie). If you were a fan of the original Star Trek series, they put in a lot of nods to you, and even if they don't all work, it's still more than most fans get from series reboots. I can honestly say it's the first movie I've seen recently where I didn't feel like I got robbed at the box office (the last one being The Wrestler). Oh and a side note to Abrams should he direct a sequel: bring back the green skinned redhead. Or we will haunt you.

Trek is Back
Reviewed by Sharkbait for Star Trek at 2009-05-11 22:23:31
As a life-long Trekkie and as a movie fan, I have a couple of issues with J.J. Abrams' new prequel/reboot of Star Trek. Chief among them is a lack of screen time for Eric Bana as the villain, Nero. However, J.J. and his team just got so many other things exactly RIGHT that my few little quibbles seem very minor. This is a slightly flawed masterpiece, but a masterpiece nonetheless, and it deserves to bring Star Trek back on the map. Hell, yeah. Almost Four Bones....

Focus on the (Racing) Family
Reviewed by www.BraidedThreads.blogspot.com for Speed Racer at 2008-10-09 11:55:57
http://braidedthreads.blogspot.com/2008/09/focus-on-racing-family.html...The draw to this film will probably be the effects-saturated racing, but by the time the final race comes along, you might find yourself more interested in watching the dynamics between the father, played by John Goodman, the mother, played by Susan Sarandon, and their two sons. The back-story doesn't matter nearly as much as it deserves to. It involves a "boy" first-named "Speed," last-named "Racer" (played by Emile Hirsch) and his race-car obsessed family who lost an older son to a racing accident in the years before the action that takes place in the film. I must say, this movie celebrates Family connections, Family relationships, and Family unity like a curb-side uber-1950s-style Swiss Family Robinson. Between the racing scenes there is a whole lot of family interaction: laughter, arguments, tension, exasperation, and forgiveness.

Patton!

Patton Oswalt is so great in this that it almost takes attention away from Pixar's utterly (and of course inevitably) flawless animation.
