Tim Burton always knows how to create colorful, interesting universes to populate his characters, and this is no exception. However, this time he delivers less than a masterpiece. The characters are zany but many without purpose, and the continuation concept is clever but unnecessary. In this case, it may have been preferable for Burton to just re-adapt the book.
Pirates are returning. This great movie lied in the hands of Gore Verbinski and he didn't mess it up. A film full of adventure, treachery, piracy, amazing battles and victory.
Poor, but entertaining.

A thriller largely lacking in substance (due to its sometimes weak script, et al.), but Robert De Niro and Dakota Fanning give surprisingly good performances. I would never claim that it's a great movie, but it's still a highly enjoyable one.
He will make star in amazement and laugh. You wonder if some of his lines were meant to be said the way he says them and think about how weird he makes captain jack. He alone is a good reason to watch it.

A zombie musician takes revenge on the punks that murdered raped and murdered his wife and him. Along the way he befriends his wife's little sister and a depressed police officer who takes care of her. Extreme violence and gore mixed with strong moral values may not it well with many viewers, but the beautiful Gothic cinematography, heavy metal soundtrack, and a charismatic performance by Brandon Lee in his final performance help elevate the film above the tasteless material. A horrific on set freak accident cost Lee his life and gives the film a disturbing sense of irony that may be too overwhelming for many viewers.
Rated R. Contains Strong graphic violence and language, heavy drug content, and brief nudity and sexual content
There is only two reasons to watch this film... 1) if you are so utterly bored, and 2) if you are a fan of Orlando Bloom or Johnny Depp. The movie never should of been made. The worst part is the end, it sets itself up so that some moron could very well continue the Pirates saga if they had enough cash to throw around.
If you have never seen the previous Pirates film this movie would seem disjointed at best. Its clearly set up as filler for the 1st and last movies. It is far better than the 3rd movie in the series, however not as good as the first. Main reasons to see the film are if you are like me, a fan of Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom. They both really carried the film and are imho, the best actors of all 3 films in this trilogy.
