Horrible and thats why it bombed nobody wants to hear about Sally and the boxer viewers are interested in the true nitty gritty about Joe and the girls, the life at Mustang what really happened, Sally was never even there, the highlight and center of the moview whould have focused on Joe, thats what all the talk shows were about, i should know i was on all of them and was one of Joes girls for ten years , this movie was boring and a total misconception of the ranch ,would have done better if the focus would have been on Joe and the girls, the drama behind the brothel doors, the relationship between Joe and the girls and the events there. Sally was never there who cares about her and the boxer, I know the real juicy facts, not only did i work there i was Joes main girl for 5 yrs. i know the true real nitty gritty

If you like well-made period movies, with interesting stories and great acting, this is the movie for you. Revolving around the struggle of Sofya Tolstoy to wrestle the family inheritance from an overly devoted student of the Tolstoy movement, the film has wit and heart in developing the relationships. Particularly the loving but exasperated one between Leo and Sofya Tolstoy, played by the always dependable (and indeed brilliant) Christopher Plummer and Helen Mirren.
...of the Arthurian legend. Best by far. Only Monty Python and the Holy Grail come close.

The intrigue, conspiracy and drama present in this movie are off the charts. It's truly an intelligent film that captivates from start to finish. I didn't particularly like the final twist but it all makes sense. On a structural note, I find it ironic that the crusading media is portrayed as the constant moral compass and is the hero of the film when, in real life, journalism is now all about the presentation of different levels of liberal falsities. As for the performances, Russell Crowe and the ENTIRE cast are simply superb... everyone is top level talent on the top of their game. I can't remember a recent movie where the supporting players are this good. Jason Bateman, Jeff Daniels and even Helen Mirren have very small roles but all have a huge impact on the film. Affleck and McAdams do a great job as well.

Dont waste your time. I sure did. You will laugh at me for this but I tried to watch it THREE times and failed every time.I couldnt make myself do it. It is my top most hated film and I think someone should warn you before you make a mistake.
In 'The Mosquito Coast', Harrison Ford gives the least Harrison Ford-like performance I've ever seen. This is a compliment, because normally Ford only knows how to play Harrison Ford. In this movie, however, he gives a convincing portrayal of madness that had me sit up and pay attention. Kudos as well to the late River Phoenix. This movie's worth a look.
