Tom Hanks drags this one out.

If I have to hear Tom Hanks trying to figure out where he is ever again, I will never watch another one of his films.
I must be missing something but this movie goes nowhere.
This Movie Sucks

I hate this film. This is one of the worst I have seen. I saw it 6 years ago when it came out. It was bad then because of the technology/early cgi. If you work in a retail store and someone wants to buy "Robots," give it to them for free - they shouldn't have to pay for it! This is a big fat WOOF!!

Saccarine, stupid, unbelievable and vile; I have not seen such a stinker in years. The only saving grace is Tucci; I can't believe Tucci and Saradon would sign up for this junk.
A Delicious Treat of a Movie

Meryl Streep is just a joy as Julia Child, in one of her most graceful performances. Amy Adams is solid as Julie Powell, who decides to write a blog about cooking every recipe in Child's cookbook. Eat something before you enter the theater, or you'll be hungrier afterwards. The dishes shown might make even the VideoHound drool.
Julia is rolling over in her grave

Nothing like taking one of America's gems and turning her into a cartoon character. I know we laughed when Dan Akroyd poked fun of Julia on SNL - but this woman was more than that.
The story idea of paralleling two women seemed brilliant but then the dialogue and the directing just succumbed to banality.
And then there was Meryl Streep -- professional movie reviewers loved her performance. I didn't. I was so offended by her portrayal plus the lack of meat in the story.
This is no way to remember Julia Child -- this movie is an injustice to a brilliant mind and a wonderful woman. Nora Efron should be ashamed that she is profiting off of this woman's life.
Style Over Substance

It's obvious they started this movie with the visual ideas (as they state they did in the DVD extras). They came up with this world--which is absolutely, mind-bogglingly, beautifully rendered in the film--and then hung a paper-thin plot on it. The voice cast is pretty good (minus Halle Berry, who is just bland), but the visuals definitely stick with you longer than any of the story elements.
Creepy monkeys...what's not to love?

If you are creeped out by monkeys, not to mention GENETICALLY ENGINEERED monkeys, this is for you. I personally love some of the headings on Amazon for this movie, like "Deadtime for Bonzo", "Show Me the Monkey" and "Man's Best Friend is a Dog; His Worst Enemy is a Genetically Altered Monkey".
Fun!

I read the book and saw the move, both great. The movie differs from the book (I actually suggest seeing the movie first!). I really enjoyed it:) Lots of paws for this one. Woof!
