Brad Pitt

Definitely long, but graceful - not focused on Brad's physical appearance, but his character's true display of curiosity. Monty Markham (Death Takes a Holiday) did this movie way back, although not the 1st release, & was passionate then. Can watch Meet Joe Black over & over again (& have). Claire Folani is the captivating role in this film & as far as I can recall Anthony Hopkins hasn?t bombed a role yet. Brad is on the cover but, again he?s really not the focus of the film ? his character only examines the purposes of human life. Watch it again very closely & see if you have a different perspective.

The movie business has never quite been the same since that former video-clerk geek and genre-loving movie maven Quentin Tarantino exploded on the scene with Reservoir Dogs. If you go strictly by the coming attractions, Inglourious Basterds might confound your expectations. Yes, Brad Pitt leads a group of Jewish soldiers who murder and scalp Nazis all over France. However, the actual graphic Nazi-killing is just the first chapter to a more conventional WWII espionage thriller. Tarantino presents a rollicking, wish-fulfillment revenge fantasy about getting Hitler that is presented with a graphic novel ambiance punctuated with moments of brilliant and far-from-cartoonish tension. The latter is most gloriously on display when Tarantino presents a bar rendezvous with three of the Basterds, the spy and a bunch of German soldiers. This is the moment when Tarantino presents one of his genre favorites, the ?Mexican standoff.? Did I mention that this movie is often hilarious? The Nazi killing scenes are designed to make you laugh and turn your head away cringing at the same time. In Tarantino terms, this movie is restrained; it hits us with the bloodletting and head bashing in small doses. It is the story, the development of the characters and the quality of the dialogue that makes Inglourious Basterds a wonderfully intriguing cinematic adventure. The most accomplished acting emanates from the urbane matter-of-fact evil presented by the amazing Waltz.

Tarantino has done a brilliant job of crafting one of the most suspenseful movies I have ever seen. I love how pieces of the puzzle throughout come together in different sequences ultimately leaving you with a feeling that everything is complete in the end. This is definitely a movie worth watching again and again. All thumbs up!!!

A long-winded and cartoony yet very compelling film. Some chapters felt plodding and maybe too dialogue laced but I was never bored. Tarantino certainly re-writes history and takes many shortcuts through reality but he does it with flare. This is a hard movie to define or summarize but I'd call it an interesting experimental cross between Pulp Fiction, The Diary of Ann Frank and some depraved Looney Tunes.

Nice movie

Gotta love Morgan Freeman- elevates just about anything he's in. And.. Brad really did get the best lines in this flick. Ending really messes with your head.

I haven't seen this since it first came out 13 years ago, in 1995. It blew my socks off when I was in my early 20s - I watched it twice in the theater (at about $3.00 per ticket, back then). Most of it still holds up well. It hasn't been that long, but back when it came out, this kind of bleak, apocalyptic film was not quite as prominent as it is today: well, there was Mad Max, Blade Runner, Terminator, Clockwork Orange, Escape From New York, A Boy and His Dog, Soylent Green, and Planet of the Apes, most of which hung out at the edges of the mainstream (Terminator 2 is a big exception) Then, the Matrix came out, 4 years after 12 Monkeys. Now, we are inundated with the pending apocalypse at the movies. (It is compelling how many of the films in this Wikipedia list of post-apocalyptic sci-fi films are either recent or in production). But in 1995, Terry Gilliam was stepping out on a limb (surprise, surprise!) with a downer of a movie that was widely released, and which contained some pretty big-name actors. The future is not looking bright in 12 Monkeys. Much of the tension in this movie comes from unanswered questions about the origin and purpose of the army of the 12 Monkeys. These questions remain unanswered until the very final moments of the film, which is satisfying in terms of its plot-driven emphasis. This story follows the fiction writer's rule very religiously: after the climax of the story, go to "The End" as fast as you possibly can; Once you hit the climactic moment of the film, get out. The acting here is often overly self-conscious - Brad Pitt is mostly fun to watch; he hits many colorful and wild and awkward notes. Bruce Willis (and everyone else for that matter) has a rough script to work with. His character is meant to seem very child-like, and yet his lines are a bit too calculated to believe in his quirky, innocent perspective. By the same token, other lines are plucky while his appearance and manner are both numb and tortured. It is an inconsistent, disconnected mix. Bruce Willis is much more fascinating to watch than he is to listen to. Much of the time, he seems like a drugged-up psyche patient trying to sound like someone from X-files. The film does a great job of keeping us guessing about how many of the events in the story exist only in Bruce Willis' head, or whether all of it is the unfolding of a very bleak plot. Is this a story of a dellusional man and his inner turmoil, or is this a story about the end of the world? Either story would be compelling on its own, and both of them are woven together fascinatingly, with Terry Gilliam's stylistic stamp on just about every scene.

This is one of the few instances where the movie outshines the book by a mile. Fincher serves up what may be the defining film of "Gen-X", with a sarcastic, dark and kinetic trip of a film. If this isn't on the Top 20 list of greatest movies 20 years from now, I'll be astounded. Cynicism, anarchy, disillusionment and black humor abound in a tale of a yuppie gone underground, with maybe a psychotic delusion? A biting statement of modern day commercialism and life. Norton, Pitt and Bonham Carter are all amazing and the direction and style are flawless. This one gains a permanent spot in my DVD player at least twice a year...

Action, humor and Brangelina...what more could you ask for?

This movie holds up to the hype. A good fight scene between Brad and Angelina is worth the price of admission.

This was really fun to watch. No work of art, but neither was the original.

But I'm sorry, George Clooney is nowhere near being Frank Sinatra. It just doesn't work. The original Ocean's 11 is an amazing timepiece showing the coolest guys and gals in the 60s universe horsing around, partying, and in general having fun making jokes together. This, by comparison, is more like the major studios having fun thinking people wouldn't know that this movie had already been done, and done better, with bigger stars, better scenery (mainly due to the spectacle of the Vegas of the 60s, before Disney moved in) and better all-around performances. Plus, of course, songs by Rat-Pack members.

If you're looking for a typical western with lots of action and quick plot development, this movie will disappoint. Andrew Dominik's script and style is like Terrence Malick (The Thin Red Line, Days of Heaven, The New World), long, ponderous with lots of silences but stunning photography more than makes up for plodding plot. Veteran DP Roger Deakins mans the camera (first cinematographer in Oscar history to be nominated for two films in the same year). Based on an adaptation by the novel by Ron Hansen. Worth watching if you can stand the slow pace. Affleck

Fantastic movie on so many levels, with a roller-coaster ride of emotions and experiences. Great acting, scenery, the whole lot...

This was a movie I would have very much liked to love, but it is so very long and seems to lose its way in the middle. Rather than try to focus & sharpen the film, or try to keep audience's interest by interjecting some action or other distraction, it simply continues to pound away at the psychological drama - just doesn't pull it off. Good storyline, premise and acting, but overall it seems to be wasted potential.

This film is excellent in so many respects, and worth watching again and again simply for that reason. But the cockney and other accents, wild plot line and converging stories also mean that you'll start to understand & appreciate it more with subsequent viewings. Pitt and Farina are perfect big name additions to this mostly British cast - but all characters are memorable and make this film a classic.

Three bones for this regurgitated plot that brings absolutely nothing new to the crime genre. Hmmm it's not comedy, it's not drama, it's not action, but it has a lot of pretty hollywood A-listers in it. This must be gold!! (assuming gold is the nuggets I pull from my nose I would agree).
