my Mom said I have to be 21 to see this movie. but my friend told me to see it and i will see this movie and Dream about Mark Wahlberg. but I'm 18 and i will see this movie.
This movie was a Sunday afternoon classic at our house. After church and lunch we sat and watched this great little classic every week. The songs are still stuck in my head, the comedy is clever and costuming is great. And I found out recently that there really was a "Chicken Ranch" and it was the same whorehouse that the song "LaGrange" was based on. If you like musicals and have never seen this one it is worth the watch!

Burt Reynolds stars as Hooper, an aging over the hill stunt man, who is wrestling with this fact when an up and coming stunt man comes to challenge his ego. This is a lighthearted comedy that while shows some of the realities of the business (pain killers, surgeries and injuries) does so in a way that is not preachy but still effective. A classic pride vs. reality, old vs. new fable with some good laughs along the way. If you do not like dated movies (i.e. you can def. tell when this movie was filmed) then you will not like this. Some great stuntwork for its day, which for your information is the line of work Burt did before becoming a movie star.
I'm not gonna try to convince anyone that this is a "good" movie. But I like it, because they got one thing right: the car. The General Lee is definitely the star of this show (Shhh, no one tell Knoxville!). Anyone who loved the show loved it for the car...and Daisy, I suppose. But I'm with Bo on this one. That car is beautiful, and is lovingly shot throughout the movie. I can't think of a recent movie that better exemplifies the words 'car porn.' Sorry, "Gone in 60 Seconds" remake, if you'd have put a Charger in there for more than three seconds, you might have had a shot.
