Not as bold as 'Inception' or as relevant as 'The Social Network," but just as worthy in its own way. Propelled by endearing performances and an interesting true-life story, this is among the most enjoyable films of 2010.

Being a HUGE fan of harry potter myself I have been looking forward to the double movie finale for a long time. I went to see this film on the day it came out and I was very excited. I was desperately hoping it would be equally as good as the others, and luckily it completely succeeded with no doubt. I'm going to keep this short but all in all I love this film and I can't wait for the next instalment.

Colorful Burton Wonderland
Reviewed by criddic2 for Alice in Wonderland at 2010-09-26 04:15:01
Tim Burton always knows how to create colorful, interesting universes to populate his characters, and this is no exception. However, this time he delivers less than a masterpiece. The characters are zany but many without purpose, and the continuation concept is clever but unnecessary. In this case, it may have been preferable for Burton to just re-adapt the book.

This is the fourth movie in a long-running series. With few exceptions, that is usually when a series falls apart (think Jaws 4, Superman 4, Batman & Robin). 'Salvation' works mainly because of a good cast and solid pacing, with some nice effects thrown in. As a summer action movie, it does its job to entertain. But it's still a far cry from "Judgment Day" and even a bit short from the original. It pairs up about evenly with 'Rise of the Machines," however.

A fresh, wonderfully animated treat
Reviewed by Axellion for Wallace & Gromit in The Curse of the Were-Rabbit at 2010-03-17 10:49:17
The Wallace & Gromit shorts have always been lovingly crafted animated treats. With claymation being a dying art these days; they are a rare delicacy to watch, as well as a good laugh. With the time-consuming nature of stop-motion animation, a full length feature is an arduous undertaking, and the masters at Aardman Animations have done just that. Wallace and his partner Gromit have finally broken onto the big screen, bringing all there great adventure and wonderful animation with them. The Giant Vegetable festival looms, local growers prep their mighty veg day and night. These agriculture efforts are being threatened by an overabundance of bunnies; the pests have been breeding, as the film puts it, like rabbits. Wallace and his four legged partner, the true brains of the partnership Gromit, are on the job; rounding up the furry beasts by the truck load. Wallace with his mad inventor fashion, and his wish to win the affections of a lovely local vegetable enthusiast, devises a plan to deal with this flood of rabbits for good, endeavoring to alter the bunny?s love of carrots. Wallace transmits his own distaste for greens into the minds of his captives, through the use of one of his Rube Goldberg like apparatuses. As these things tend to transpire, and despite Gromit?s uneasiness and endless eye rolling, Wallace?s plain goes into effect, his mind-altering contraption unknowingly creates a monster; the frighteningly adorable Were-Rabbit is unleashed onto the vegetable loving neighborhood. The Claymation is nothing short of gorgeous, they entire world is handcrafted this can be felt in the texture of each lovingly created character and object, with only a slight use of CGI for a few imposable to manipulate objects. The extremely laborious nature of stop-motion makes it truly astounding to see a full length feature of this quality. Faces are beautifully expressive; having a feeling of tangibility, of physicality. Character motion is wonderfully whimsical; the style of animation brings a strange distinctiveness to gestures. This world was created out of plasticine, crafted with a painstaking attention to detail and appearance. Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit is a huge breath of fresh air, in a world full of cookie cutter computer generated films, being mass-produced from every render farm in Hollywood; I fell in love with its sincere characters and its remarkably fresh look. It?s a grand fun adventure from the first carrot; this is no Disney Princess rubbish, it?s an adventure full of warmth and energy with an honest narrative, it does not pander to kids, it does not embark to sell action figures or sing-along tapes. A rarity for animation, with the exception of the geniuses at Pixar, a quality plot and developed characters fill this wonderful world of clay and vegetables.

The film had some great acting, and some awe-inspiring cinematography. And yes, I loved all the action scenes. However, there was no real substance to the plot; instead, we get typical Hollywood quasi-intelligent cliched conversations that try to sound deep and meaningful. Needless to say, it ends up being cheesy. Another problem I had with the movie was it's PG-13 rating. Hollywood insists on making money; to their credit, they do it well. But to take an R-rated franchise and dull it down to a PG-13 is just obnoxious. They did the same thing to the Die Hard movies (Live Free or Die Hard's unrated version was SO much better than the theatrical one). It's not that I love blood and f-bombs, it's that it makes the movie feel more like it's predecessors. Bottom line: while obviously not being anywhere near as good as the first two due to some script flaws and it's weak rating, Terminator Salvation still managed to entertain with it's loud and exciting action. Plus, it was better than the Rise of the Machines.

bottom of the barrel bad
Reviewed by yellowjacket for Terminator Salvation at 2009-09-17 00:24:57
Disappointing to say the least. The movie is a one note bore until late the film. The dialogue is atrocious. Slipping in the "I'll be back" line was as forced a line as I've ever seen. In fact, it drew an audible groan from the crowd I saw it with. Leaps in logic and rather mundane action drop this film to the bottom of the barrel in terms of summer blockbuster material. I honestly can't think of one thing the director did right. Shooting this one note crapfest through panty-hose to give it a grainy feel may have seemed like an artistic touch but all it did was add to the unsavory feel and genuine disappointment this movie will generate.

Is this Terminator?
Reviewed by Sharkbait for Terminator Salvation at 2009-05-27 17:20:23
Salvation is pretty good as a post-apocalyptic war movie with spectacular visual effects, but as a Terminator movie, it has a completely different vibe from the other three. I went in expecting something less than T1 and T2, and thus was not really disappointed. Salvation is probably almost as good as T3 (which I happen to like), but it almost feels like it's in a completely different genre. You have men fighting against all manner of machines, and the Terminators themselves are almost incidental, at least until the finale. Anton Yelchin is great as a young Kyle Reese and, as Marcus Wright, Sam Worthington completely steals the movie away from Christian Bale. I would likely watch it again, but this is definitely a different kind of Terminator movie.

"I am Jack's Complete Lack of Surprise"
Reviewed by KHL for Fight Club at 2008-04-14 11:54:39
This is one of the few instances where the movie outshines the book by a mile. Fincher serves up what may be the defining film of "Gen-X", with a sarcastic, dark and kinetic trip of a film. If this isn't on the Top 20 list of greatest movies 20 years from now, I'll be astounded. Cynicism, anarchy, disillusionment and black humor abound in a tale of a yuppie gone underground, with maybe a psychotic delusion? A biting statement of modern day commercialism and life. Norton, Pitt and Bonham Carter are all amazing and the direction and style are flawless. This one gains a permanent spot in my DVD player at least twice a year...
