A great movie with a great cast

Blast From The Past is a great movie featuring Brendan Fraser and Alicia Silverstone at their very best. Christopher Walken and Sissy Spacek rock too. DON'T MISS IT!

This is the film that introduced me to Johnny Depp, for which I am eternally grateful! As a fellow reviewer said, perfect Halloween viewing (though I watched a love scene in the film in class on Valentine's Day; good timing, but the movie's not a full-blown romance)!

An Instant Classic
Reviewed by movieman444 for Pulp Fiction at 2010-01-14 13:07:51
Quentin Tarantino is a director that has changed how movies were made. Pulp Fiction is a movie that is one-of-a-kind in its time. The eccentric storytelling (using a non-linear storyline), the unbelievable acting by John Travolta, Samuel L. Jackson, Uma Thurman and Bruce Willis and the ironic mix of humor and violence make this movie a classic. I recommend this movie to anyone!!

Vastly Overrated Fantasy About Vietnam
Reviewed by shanahan for The Deer Hunter at 2009-12-18 15:42:40
While this film has some beautiful moments - mostly in the Polish community of the small Pennsylvania town - it is a vastly overrated melodrama. No one involved in the film had any experience in the Vietnam War, so there are patent misrepresentations - the bamboo cage torture, for instance, and the Russian roulette game. And it hinges on a pseudo-spiritual, but actually hoked-up notion about "one clean shot" that means . . . well, nothing. (There is also a scene in which all the Asians seem to be a mindless, hysterical mass - something sensitive viewers will find offensive.) It's sad that such talented performers gave their all to such a study in Wagnerian overkill, but their efforts don't come anywhere near redeeming the film.

Just Let the Beauty of It Wash Over You
Reviewed by criddic2 for Sleepy Hollow at 2009-08-24 01:36:41
This is one of Tim Burton's most sumptuous pictures, dripping with atmosphere and superb production design. Depp provides a more humorous take on Ichabod Crane, while maintaining an air of respectability in the character. Ricci is lovely. Stylish and entertaining. Perfect Halloween fare.

Great humor
Reviewed by daswitzer for Balls of Fury at 2008-08-03 18:38:04
With ping-pong as the theme behind this movie, I didn't know what to expect. I loved it! Very funny! Walken is hysterical in his role. Great writing. My kind of humor.....not so much the slapstick, but the lines that were spoken and the way that they were delivered. No showboating here.

Hilarious or hated
Reviewed by dj101092 for Envy at 2008-04-04 22:46:42
I laughed so hard I was crying through most of this movie but pretty much everyone else I know hated it. There is no middle ground with this movie. Black's innocence and commitment to the most ridiculous of inventions that works for no logical reason and Stiller's voice of reason and eventual jealously when one of Black's ideas actually works without any logic, is a fascinating character study as well as a crazy setup for this madcap comedy. I still laugh every time I think of any of the scenes with Black's horse. Christopher Walken is at his absurd best. Give it 15 minutes to take hold. If you don't feel it in the first 15 minutes, turn it off and go grab Flirting with Disaster or School of Rock but don't miss out on giving this film a chance. It is one of the best or worst Stiller, Black, or Walken films you will ever see.

One of a Kind
Reviewed by MGoBlue for Pulp Fiction at 2008-03-30 13:10:55
One of the greatest films ever! Incredibly innovative in its sequencing, with the some of the best, albeit harsh, monologues (i.e. Samuel L. Jackson's bible quote scene) of any movie. One of those films you can't help but watch every time it is on.

This is one movie I was glad to be watching on video...so I could fast-forward! I kept waiting for it to get good and it never happened. Redeeming factor: Christopher Walken was creepy in a good way, as usual.

In a word, fantastic. This should become a classic. Strange cast, great performances, and Travolta played it to the hilt as a hit man. Samuel Jackson partners in a way that keep the energy going.
