Not all bad..

Shows that a step-mom can be a good person,At first the children were not very receptive of having her in their lives, She does a few "cool" things and kids learn to love and respect. It is a tearjerker and watch with a box of tissues.

One of Julia Roberts' better, newer movies!

This is one of Julia Roberts' better, newer movies. It's not like those late 80s and early 90s take-offs of 1940s romance thrillers where the woman would always scream"I THOUGHT YOU LOVED ME!"at her man that she'd always play in her early years.

Should NEVER EVER be seen outside of the pot-fuled midnight movie circuit---which I guess is pretty much dead

Woof, Woof, Woof!!!

Saccarine, stupid, unbelievable and vile; I have not seen such a stinker in years. The only saving grace is Tucci; I can't believe Tucci and Saradon would sign up for this junk.

Deliciously twisted.

A hilariously weird venture into a world of zany madness. You know that when one of the movie's main characters declares himself a "sweet transvestite, from Transsexual, Transylvania," you're in for a wild ride!

Focus on the (Racing) Family
Reviewed by www.BraidedThreads.blogspot.com for Speed Racer at 2008-10-09 11:55:57
http://braidedthreads.blogspot.com/2008/09/focus-on-racing-family.html...The draw to this film will probably be the effects-saturated racing, but by the time the final race comes along, you might find yourself more interested in watching the dynamics between the father, played by John Goodman, the mother, played by Susan Sarandon, and their two sons. The back-story doesn't matter nearly as much as it deserves to. It involves a "boy" first-named "Speed," last-named "Racer" (played by Emile Hirsch) and his race-car obsessed family who lost an older son to a racing accident in the years before the action that takes place in the film. I must say, this movie celebrates Family connections, Family relationships, and Family unity like a curb-side uber-1950s-style Swiss Family Robinson. Between the racing scenes there is a whole lot of family interaction: laughter, arguments, tension, exasperation, and forgiveness.

Wagnerian Celebration of Death
Reviewed by shanahan for Dead Man Walking at 2008-08-11 06:10:42
The notion that this film is some kind of serious meditation on capital punishment is hard to understand. The repeated flashbacks to the murder scene are not only gratuitous (how many times do we need to see a murder/rape to get the message?), they border on a macabre preoccupation with violence and death. The moody rhythm of the film, and the "crescendo" execution scene (another lingering scene that suggests fascination with death), are manipulative and ham-fisted. Give us a sharp, tragic look - like "I Want to Live" - at the death penalty; or a thoughtful meditation on murder and the murderer - there's a gap Hollywood has never filled. Don't give us Wagner.

The hound lost the scent on this one

Disney pokes fun of its "happily ever after" fantasy machine; but playing out this sentiment in the somewhat more real world of NYC is a bit smarter than the hound sniffed out. Agree the ending wasn't the best, but the movie was a treat.

doesn't everyone? Great movie for the kids and I think the adults found it "enchanting" as well. And not because McDreamy is in it.
