waste of time

maybe my opinion is affected by the fact that i didn't watch it in 3-D, or in a movie theater. however, i believe i would have felt the same and it was a waste of my time. if i wanted to watch computer graphics, i would have gone to the library.

I have always loved the pixar films as I grew up watching disney and I still love it now. The precision in detail in this movie is amazing, every little bit is perfect. I adore it. The charcter of WALL-E is so well presented through comedy and we also feel for the charcter at times to as he overcomes certain things. Being a fan of blogs and nerdy music the term 'Robot Love' may come to mind in some young movie reviews like me on here. This was potrayed in the film through WALL-E and the slik new robot he falls in love with. The film also has a great ending. It doesn't end abruptly at all, it answers all our questions and ends on a great note. Overall, I think this film was alot better than I thought it would be and I recommend it to people of any age.

The latest and most greatest masterpiece of the brilliant director James Cameron. The perfect 3-D movie drags you into the world of extreme nature and beautiful animals. Special effects are the soul of magnificent. But along with this beauty comes a price: tears. The brutality on nature done by humans is great and I would not recommend this movie for 12 years of under!!! Even through this, Avatar is a full success and it should be seen.

Avatar (2009)
Reviewed by pipefitter101 for Avatar at 2010-02-14 00:10:19
Avatar is the latest masterpiece from the genius mind of James Cameron that is sure to win dubious honors and be the talk of more than just a movie. No doubt this will spawn graphic novels, toys, and possibly a side series to go along with it. I went into this unsure of what expectations lead me to. Would this be another overhyped CGI movie with very little plot and brains? Or will it be a movie that has proven hype and showed it is bigger and badder than anything? Avatar is proven to be in a class of it's own. Avatar, next to The Dark Knight, are two of the biggest blockbusters of my time. Both showed off impressive graphics, but I feel the caped Batman lacked majorly in terms of storyline and in depth mention of what they were trying to accoplish. Avatar, at least follows a specific storyline, one not many kids would understand (I think I got the message). The sculptured storyline and decent character development was just the tip of the iceberg for Avatar. The storyline, is very hard to explain, but Ill do it with the best of my abilites. In the year 2154, a handicapped man named Jake Sully is sent to an RDA corporation in replace of his brother who had recently passed away. Unlike his brother, Jake has basically no idea of what to do or what to expect for that matter. The main objective is to create avatars the humors control to explore the world of Pandora. Pandora is populated by a paleolithic form of blue skin creatures, taller than humans, and resembiling a feline form. The texture and detail in the creatures is spectacular and a true visual work of art. I was really impressed at the in-depth plot. I was unknowing of the plot of this movie and expected the plot to be near non-existent and just have the movie be amazing visuals. This proves that James Cameron can still have a full storyline simultaneously having stunning graphics. Like internet-phenominon, James Rolfe (The Angry Video Game Nerd) said. "James Cameron can take to his grave that he mad two of the greatest movie sequels of all time. Terminator 2 and Aliens." How Cameron does this? I have no idea. He truely spends hard earned time and money on his films and actually comes up with a good storyline as well as showing off fantastic visuals. No other director puts time and effort into his films like Cameron. According to sources, I hear that two sequels will be spawned with the success of the film. I just hope that Cameron doesnt feel rushed with the sequels. Avatar took James Cameron fourteen years to make. Originally planned a release after Titanic Cameron stated technology needed to "catch-up" for the movie to be worthwhile. It shocked me because Cameron was patient in the time of the release. I would love to show the person who invented the saying

Great special effects, little else.
Reviewed by NWRdr4 for Avatar at 2010-01-31 15:50:24
Although Avatar has startling special effects, which are no short of beautiful, the rest of the film is unfortunately mediocre... the poor script is basically a rip-off/re-hash of Dances with Wolves, Pocahontas, and other movies of the sort. It tries to be more "profound" than it actually is, and ends up seeming pretentious and corny. The acting's not too great either.

All the purists go for the original, and I can respect that..but for me this was the one to watch-- had the classic lines, the very cool villian (and his dopey sidekick), they gave Moranis more to do (Granted he was much more amusing to watch as Vince the dog), and it was cool to see the progression of these guys after saving the city and getting blacklisted as frauds. Aykroyd,Murray,Ramis--all in their prime at this point. Great flick.

Superbly cast and tensely directed thriller that was released the same year as "Seven," another excellent serial killer story. Hunter and Weaver are terrific. Also the last time singer Connick attempted to portray such a dark character, as one of the suspects.

Our First Look at the Genius of Fincher
Reviewed by Sharkbait for Alien 3 at 2009-03-07 12:59:00
Of course this movie has its problems. But knowing now how it was made, I find it a fascinating study into the genius of David Fincher. It's amazing how this first-time feature film director dealt with a script that wasn't even written yet, constant studio interference, and myriad other problems, and turned out an atmospheric movie that almost works. Visually, this thing is great. (Of course, it doesn't hold a candle to its two predecessors, but I don't think that's Fincher's fault.) It's too bad Fincher totally disowned the movie (though who can blame him). I'd love to hear a commentary track from him on this thing.

So, how many syllables are there in that name again? This is an amazing movie. The magic of the first half is even enough to carry you through the more standard second half. The film begins on an abandoned planet earth, which is no longer able to sustain life. Human life, that is. In the midst of what appears at first to be merely a haunting, desolate landscape, WALL-E's abundant imagination has been thriving. There are many wonderful surprises that WALL-E finds while processing the mounds of garbage left behind by the human race. Delightfully, the back story of this post-apocalyptic setting is told through garbage, through the items that WALL-E finds, or the ones he passes by. The items that might be significant to us are often passed over by what catches WALL-E's attention, and we are brought to question what we, in turn, value - what catches our eye - what delights us - what holds our curiosity. At first, the abundance of slapstick moments in this film seemed like standard, flippant, cartoonish fare, but then I remembered one of the comparisons that some reviewers have been making between WALL-E the robot and Charlie Chaplin. There is a vaudevillian flair to the robot's movements and mannerisms. Even the Inspector Clouseau-like moments that you can see coming are rendered so delightfully that they feel like surprises. Over the hundreds of years that WALL-E has spent picking up garbage on the abandoned planet, he has developed an earthiness that puts him in stark contrast to the precision of the machines that he meets later on in the movie. WALL-E's personality and behavior gravitates between that of a toddler and a young adult. He is both very clever and very innocent. The lenses of his eyes reflect back to us the wonders he helps us to see.

Scoring Vantage Points
Reviewed by www.BraidedThreads.blogspot.com for Vantage Point at 2008-08-28 12:03:22
Vantage Point is chock full of totally implausible character connections and plot points, and I enjoyed it quite a bit. It is tightly edited. It never really slows down. It is like a 2-hour long-distance sprint. A plot to kill the president of the United States is split into half a dozen perspectives, and the film explores one perspective at a time, rolling back the clock for each new section in order to revisit the same events from different angles. At least, that was the idea. As the film moves on, it looses its grip on the ability to stick with any one Vantage Point. This is no Rashomon or Courage Under Fire (both of which examined wildly varying perspectives and individualized memories of shared events). The psychological landscapes of the characters in this film are pretty barren. Capital-T Truth is not a relative phenomena in Vantage Point. There are no question marks left by the time the credits roll, which is satisfying, in its own way. The film baits you with some half-revealed information at the end of each section, and makes you wait for future sections to find out a little bit more. In fact, several of these sections cut away at ridiculous moments, like commercial breaks, that recall cheap television cliffhanging strategies, as if to make sure you don't click over to some other station. This is a thriller that uses different perspectives merely as a device to withhold and then reveal information. Eventually, the movie becomes a familiar thriller/action movie with all vantage points given at once. And I have to say, it does an excellent job at that level. In fact, for what it was, it was a hoot: high energy, intense acting, the promise revelation, and the unveiling of an impressively devised plot to assassinate the president.
