Despite suffering from some typical action/mystery movie cliches, Sherlock Holmes proves to be a bit more "sophisticated" than the usual popcorn fare, due to its exquisitely clever dialogue, as well as Robery Downey Jr.'s great performance.
It doesn't just manage to deliver a little bit of everything but it does it with style and integrity. Iron Man is a film everyone can enjoy because it cares enough to deliver excellence on every front. The mega talented cast fit each main character perfectly and the story itself is told in a masterful, crisp manner. The dialogue is witty and what humor there is works its way seamlessly in to the natural order of the story. A couple of comic book style slugfests are included but inserted only as a vehicle for the story. Things aren't blown up just for the sake of seeing them go boom. What makes Iron Man a true rarity is that it's a fine film for kids but it's even greater if you're an intelligent adult. How many movies can you say that about? This is truly movie making of the most entertaining order and it easily deserves all the praise it has generated both from fans and critics alike.
This movie was the very well put together . Robert Downeing JR. was so funny in this . this movie spook to the average high school student.
Comes face to face with high students problems and charlie tries to solve them.
I don't necessarily think this movie was better or worse than Ang Lee's version--because the two are almost completely different animals. I actually liked Lee's 'Hulk'; Louis Letterier's 'The Incredible Hulk' is just bigger, louder, and thinner on the character development. (Oh, and the CGI in this one is amazing.) Both films are pretty good in their own ways, methinks.
Much better than the first Hulk movie (with Eric Bana); this re-do is at least headed in the right direction. But it falls short... a little too contrived and action-heavy (although with a Hulk movie, the action's obviously going to be heavy). Just not that good
Good movie, not just good "superhero" movie

Even the non-comic geeks will enjoy this movie - well done and Downey is perfectly cast. Good mix of humor, action and laying the groundwork for what will hopefully be a longer franchise...
Reminiscent of the 80s teen comedy flicks

The Hound pretty much sums it up. A fun to watch movie with characters that could have come straight out of a John Hughes script, but strangely this feels fresh and original. Yelchin is great and the other actors all give terrific performances. This could have had a heavy-handed "don't let your teens abuse prescription drugs" overtone, but the story works itself out to be funny without being too crass and it doesn't hit you over the head with the subject. Oh, and if you are wondering who wrote the song that Charlie and his mom sing at the piano, it's "If you want to sing out, sing out" by Cat Stevens.
At times the ethereal quality of the animation was transporting, but at other times it was just dizzying.
An animated film about secret agents that wear animated clothes to remain anonymous to each other. Layers of appearance.
But at times, we were able to get under the mask to witness confused expressions. The viewer can see real faces at times, but the expressions and nuances of facial movements were buried in the clay-like, smearing effect of the animation. Good ideas are bandied about here. A face can communicate a lot, but it is still something that both hides and reveals what lies underneath it.
I liked the shimmering quality of the scene on the freeway. The blocks of shadow and flashes of light were often exhilarating.
Seriously Hysterical

You can't ask for much better than Stiller, Black and Downey Jr. in this offbeat and seriously funny comedy (note it finally kicked the Dark Knight out of the #1 spot). Tom Cruise's cameo as slimy movie exec Les Grossman is priceless.
Downey Jr. manages to steal the show in a tour-de-force role (acutally, 3 roles perhaps?) as bad-boy Aussie ultra-Method actor (Russel Crowe, anyone?), who goes ultra-character in his African American role, then outwits some bad guys by playing a Japanese samurai type for a too-brief yet funny scene. Stiller and Black are great as usual, as are the rest of the supporting cast.
Great opening "commercials" and "trailers" open the film, and tie directly in to the central characters. Funny parody of Hollywood with awesome actors and some great cameos. I can't wait to own this one so I can watch it again! (the gag reel should be good..)
The Snake Pit meets The Cell

Not a really original idea, and the visuals are very reminiscent of The Cell, which was pretty groundbreaking visually and preceded this movie by 3 years. Although Berry is the "star" she pales in comparison to Cruz and Downey, Jr., who give great performances despite the lackluster script. OK to watch once, but pretty predictable Hollywood stuff.
Quirky Characters, Not Much Plot

While this movie has its share of quirky yet strangely likable characters, it plods along pretty slowly and nothing really pulls together until the last half hour. Worth watching once. Its a shame, since there are some great actors here, Sean Penn is an oddball drifter attached to his electric blue Italian loafers, McDowell as the troubled but well meaning dad, and Moriarty as the clueless mom.
Highlights are Downey Jr. in his first role after his prison term was over (one can wonder if he's really sober here, or just acting...still its funny), and Milano and Dempsey have terrific chemistry.
Snappy dialog, awesome performances by all three leads and a great plot contribute to the fun of this send up on film noir. Kilmer actually succeeds in stealing some scenes from Downey Jr. (which is unusual) with his over the top character 'Gay Perry'.
A great fun ride of a film.
