The Dark Hero98 is at least partly right: this is a good action film, and it captures at least some of the grandeur of the Greek epics. But . . . it plays too fast and loose with the Iliad, and some of its characterizations are weak: you would hardly expect, for instance, that the Odysseus of this film could become the hero of the Odyssey. And Brad Pitt as Achilles? I think Homer had someone a bit more raw in mind. It's a bit like casting Redford as Gatsby - when Gatsby was Jewish . . .

Love's Fight

Wolfgang Peterson presents his greatest movie yet, Troy. A true masterpiece, I think. A masterpiece of acting, fighting, truth, vengeance and a perfect example of what love can do. Surely to be seen by fans of Greek Mythology and fans of big battles. Oh, and Helen is most beautiful.

Unexpected Surprises
Reviewed by Fantasea for Stardust at 2009-12-12 16:01:55
Sometimes you go to a movie with high expectations and sometimes not really knowing what to expect. "Stardust" was one of the latter. What a surprise! It built up slowly and delivered on so many levels. So what type of film is "Stardust"? A coming of age, a romance, an epic adventure, a swashbuckler, a comedy, a fantasy, and a (flying, irreverent, cross-dressing) pirate movie; yes it's all of that!! What a way to escape for two hours. Everyone in the cast gave satisfying performances, many were stand out performances: with a wickedly over the top evil Witch by Ms. Pfeiffer and a flying high scene stealing turn by Mr. De Niro as Captain Shakespeare. Treat yourself. See "Stardust", and be surprised.

If your an Audrey fan like me you will like this movie. The leads in this movie work very well togther and there "thing" together is believable. The story is laughably ironic.

Several fun cameos

There are several fun Brit cameos in this movie: Rupert Everett, Peter O'Toole, Jason Flemyng, Ricky Gervais, David Kelly, etc. It's a charming movie and worth the two hours of your life to watch it!

Patton!

Patton Oswalt is so great in this that it almost takes attention away from Pixar's utterly (and of course inevitably) flawless animation.
