You might not be 100% familiar with the name “Danny Boyle,” but you’re almost definitely familiar with some of his work, an impressive resume of films that call Boyle out as one of the most vibrant, exciting directors currently making movies. Boyle first got critical recognition for the blackly-comic Shallow Grave before exploding onto the international radar with Trainspotting, a movie that still never gets the credit it deserves (outside of Scotland, that is) and that essentially jump-started Ewan McGregor’s film career. That was followed by the oddball fantasy Life Less Ordinary, the DiCaprio lost-in-paradise thriller The Beach, and the sweetly underrated Millions. Boyle’s next evolutionary jump forward came with his unconventional zombie film, 28 Days Later, which reignited interest in the zombie genre and proved to us that, yes, zombies can run. It looks like Boyle is poised again to make a monumental leap forward with his new movie, Slumdog Millionaire, which is riding an amazing wave of film festival critical raves and is rumored to be the Juno-esque dark horse for the 2009 Best Picture Oscar. ...
