Dark City is underrated and absolutely great. Extremely interesting, and Matrix basically ripped it off (albeit probably not intentionally)

I agree with Mindplunge, also I didnt see any underrated foreign Sci-fi either, like Alphaville!! But definitely a good list.

Respect for adding A Boy and His Dog, I was hoping that you would. For my 2 pence worth - did you consider Brother from Another Planet? A very cool lo-fi 80s flick - still waiting for a UK DVD release.

... but Equilibrium is seriously one of the worst movies I've ever seen. Gun kata? Really? People LOVE that movie, but man, I caught it during its extremely limited theatrical run and I didn't stop laughing from start to finish. Christian Bale jettisons his whole belief system for the love of a puppy. That's good filmmaking.
