Just Go with It is from the production team Happy Madison which has been together a very long time and has successfully brought moviegoers most of Adam Sandler's films, but this magical team has apparently lost its charm and if Sandler expects to continue making successful movies I would suggest he take a long hard look at this film and have an honest conversation with himself. Just Go with It may just signal the end of Sandler's instant hit status and I would be shocked the film does any business beyond opening weekend. Yes, it's that bad.

Palmer, all of 23, a school teacher and one of high moralistic character, finds the magical wedding ring and needs to be convinced that Danny isn't, in fact, married and insists on meeting his soon to be ex-wife. Enter assistant Katherine and her children as the fake family and the mayhem begins in every imaginable way. There's the scene where Katherine goes and gets the makeover so she can play the soon to be ex more realistically. Then there is the boring insult-laden exchange between that the soon to be ex's have and what should have been a hilarious exchange is just, well, stupid. Then there is the drama of meeting the fake kids, taking a trip to Hawaii, and all the other plot lines that were ill conceived, poorly written, and tiredly directed.

It is disappointing that the team that gave us truly funny films like Happy Gilmore, Billy Madison, and Big Daddy have tried to pass this off as something that involved anything more than maybe fulfilling a contractual commitment to Columbia Pictures, who holds the Happy Madison Productions movie deal. Just Go with It has so little real comedy in it that when there is actually a laugh here or there, you almost don't care, and that's never a good thing. The crotch and bathroom jokes and the predictable plastic surgery mistakes of his patients are not only not funny, but they are almost offensive in the way they are presented.

There is very little that works in this film and beyond the predictability of the plot, the bad acting by most of the cast and the leaps of faith the audience is expected to make, not to mention the facts that obviously never add up; there was no way this film had any chance to do more than just waste your time and entertainment dollars. Jennifer Aniston can't seem to find a movie role that will allow us to taker her seriously as the television show Friends is still her best work, but we expect more from Sandler and it makes this reviewer wonder where his career is going from this. It's been a long time since he has delivered a truly funny film and Just Go with It will do nothing to endear him to his fans that want the guy he used to be.
